2009 USAF Marathon September 19 |

The AFA Wright Memorial Chapter #212 will be sponsoring a Hydration Station at the 2009 Air Force Marathon, Saturday, September 19. We will be located at the Hydration Station by the Tennis Club. In order to provide entertainment to runners along the course, Hydration station volunteers are highly encouraged to creatively decorate their stations. A contest for the most creative hydration station will be held with award for the overall winner. Our Theme will be "The 1970's Station." I am asking everyone who volunteers to wear your tie dye shirts from the 70's along with your blue jeans, head bands...etc. If you were born in the 70's and don't remember the tie dye t-shirts, ask your parents. We will have posters from the 70's, music and a day filled with fun.
Volunteers need to be in place at the station by 6:30a.m. and have the station set up by 7:00 a.m.
We will need volunteers to help with providing participants with water, electrolytes and food while they are competing on the course. Volunteers will also serve as the eyes and ears for the medical staff and event director and are essential to ensure each runner experiences a safe, enjoyable event.
All volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and packet. Coffee and doughnuts will be delivered to each Hydration station on race morning. We will have sandwiches, chips, cookies, water and sodas for lunch. Volunteers should also bring any comfort items they might need (chairs, umbrella, sunscreen, raincoat, etc) and check the weather before hand. Electricity will be provided.
If you would like to volunteer, please follow the below guidelines: All volunteers need to go the marathon website, http://usafmarathon.com, and click on Register, then click on become a volunteer. A volunteer form will pop up. You need to fill the form out down to the part that states "are you with an
